HOI!! i'm Myrtletribe (not my real name), i'm studying evolutionary ecology and mainly started this website to post my artwork.
i was born in 1993 in Amsterdam. i got the name Myrtletribe from a random elf generator when i was little. up till now i've mostly posted my art on social media like tumblr and bluesky (previously twitter). i still do but i sort of got tired with the uniformity and thus the 'grind' that comes with it to distinguish yourself in the only way you can, by being as likeable to the algorithm as possible, it takes all the fun out of art for me. art is a hobby and a means of expression and experimenting, and i enjoy sharing it because i'm sometimes proud of what i make and i get positive reactions, but my goal is not as much exposure or engagement. i think when that becomes the goal, it stops being about creativity.
my favourite moth species is the Kentish Glory (Endromis versicolora) which i had the pleasure of finding on Schiermonnikoog and doing thermoregulation trials with. i just think the colours and shape are perfection. gaze upon it yourself:
